Let them live their life....
Sometime back I happened to visit Musandam and had a chance to swim in the sea. I was very scared to do that though I learnt swimming. There was a little boy who pulled my attention towards him. A little one maybe 4 years old... when the entire session started he was clinging his dad's shoulders with a life jacket... then I noticed that he keeps changing his hands as it might ache... slowly he started moving along... maybe after an hour I saw him swimming between his mom and dad who were at a little distance apart.... It was more like a cycling only, but somehow he managed... Though I know that people from western nations are like this I was carried away at that point with the “crash course” swimming program.
My mind had a small comparison with our Indian kids...
The courage they give to their children is immense... they let them work on their likes...ok now let us think for a moment... when a kid is brought up, is that the don’ts are more than the do’s?
We think that all they do will end up in trouble...don’t go there, don’t play here, don’t take this, don’t drop this... I think this is wrong... is that not????? Now many might come up with controversies that we keep up culture, create a secure environment for the kids and whatnot... Yes, I do agree with it... but have we ever thought about what they lose in their life? the courage, the fun do doing great things, the wider perspective of life...
The courage which we give is very minimal that the kid hardly will have the gut to survive alone... you might question me why alone? It’s like preparing for the worst... and even sometimes for the best... I know a girl who is very intelligent but did not pursue her higher studies at abroad just with the fear that she cant manage herself alone out there in that very fast world.... who’s fault is that???? How many of the parents let their kids walk alone in night? How many of them let them play with delicate things at home? We are scared that they might get lost, they might get hurt, they might learn bad things, they might go away from us.... yes all these might happen sometime... but I tell you that committing a mistake is the best way to learn the right thing... though we don’t have enough time to learn by committing all the mistakes by our self that is why people say that learn from others mistake... But people please don’t misunderstand a mistake of a crime... that is wrong...
we can give the liberation to kids to an extent that the negative impact will not give a lifetime burn. For which parents have to be more responsible... I agree that we bring up kids with the great moral values and traditional concepts.. but we must understand that this is not all that is important in live... its the struggle of survival... once your kid breaks a glass and gets hurt it knows that it should never again handle it lightly... but there is a common mistake which most of the parents do... they say not to touch this and that... but if the kid goes further and happens to get hurt then instead of soothing them they scold them... is this the right way to grow a kid????? Don’t you think that here the seed of fear is planted????? a kid has to be brought up just with God fear nothing else... moral values, respect for elders, respect for culture and rest all comes along as a package... instead of buying this big offer for them we, in turn, miss the main thing but spend unnecessarily on petty stuff... and how many of us let the kids learn what they want and do what they like?
Have you guys noted a person doing freehand sketches???? It comes so very well... they call it the flow of their creativity... A good artist will never use a scale and drafters to limit them... letting your kids grow with no limitation is like a free hand art... they will definitely come out very well... all you have to do is give them the hints or the markup endpoints...... I know many kids whose are interested in fashion designing and interior decoration has been forced to pursue the so-called best education ‘the engineering’ in their life.. being skilled personals they might fair well in anything but have you ever thought that they had lost their self-satisfaction forever... of course I do agree that parents have a fore-thinking and they think about the job opportunity and money they earn... but why do we fail to understand that if a person is deciding on their future they will also be ready to face the consequences... and for that matter every coin has 2 sides... very few go against their parents and pursue what they like... what do they get in turn if at all they fail at some point…mere criticism... by their own parents...
why don’t we support for anything that their heart desires??? Either we should be able to list all the pros and cons of our kid's decision and let it make its own decision else we should be capable enough to support them in any point of their life for what they have done... if their decision is not a fruitful one then definitely your justification will change their mindset.. Else what they are doing is right somewhere... how many of us are ready to accept it? Let it be an education of their choice to a bride of their own....
IN A NUT SHELL THE RIGHT WAY OF NUTURING IS NOT FOLLOWED... THEIR OWN SPACE IS LOST IN THEIR CHILDHOOD WHICH PREVENTS THEM FROM SELF THINKING... Lets leave our kids to live their life with our full support for them in our lifespan....
