Cancer

What is cancer?

Cancer, as described in Wikipedia, is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body.
to put it in a more simpler term, there are approximately 37 trillion cells in an adult body. A malfunction of any one of this that a human body fails to rectify is the beginning of the brutal disease.
Tuberculosis affects human lung. HIV is a virus that affects the human immune system. But how do we get these many types of cancers?
Eg: brain, mouth, oesophagal, pancreatic, breast, blood, lung, bowel, skin, bone and what not.
The answer is that when it is TB, HIV or malaria it is a foreign body that enters our body a bacteria or virus that can be quickly detected by our immune system and so rejection happen in an early stage and so is the defence.
But Cancer is just a cell from our own body that follows the below-given process for its progression
  1. stops doing its function. ( in a normal human body, a cell failing to function is a normal phenomenon. we have systems that can clear such bad cells. The immune system plays a vital role in this process. But when your immune surveillance fails there is all possibility that this cell survive)
  2. start to fight for its survival and succeed.
  3. start reproducing many more abnormal cells like itself
  4. form a big group which does not do any function but keep dividing and grow more as a big lump.
  5. at this point, they are first a piece of abnormal cell sitting there
  6. as they grow in their size, they try to grab all the oxygen and sugar that goes through the blood for its own survival ( cancer cell needs more sugar to survive and grow fast)
  7. finally, capture the nearby organ and stop its function and colonise within them. At this point it is primary, local disease.
  8. as they further outgrow the space they start to move along the bloodstream and then move to different parts of our body and start to grow everywhere and conquer the other organs.
each cell has around 20,000-25,000 human protein-coding genes. can you imagine how many things can go wrong in an entire human body? isn't it scary??? Yes, it is so it is important for awareness and change in lifestyle.
besides all these steps, it is more like termites. However, it is our own body cells. It eats the organ/ body where it lives.

So like keeping the wooden furniture and areas clean, it is also important for a regular maintenance of the human body.
